Nintendo announced new entries in the Yoshi’s Island and Mario Party series this morning.
Mario Party comes out this winter for 3DS, and features seven boards with their own rules, as well as AR and drawing minigames.f
Yoshi’s Island features a 2.5D sidescrolling perspective and the series’ traditional eating and egg-throwing gameplay.
That’s all the information we know, but look for more on both games as the year goes on!

Yay, Yoshi’s Island! The original is the best platformer ever. The DS sequel was a surprisingly mostly solid follow-up. Glad we’re getting a third.
But! What’s with the art style? The first two games look like crayon. This looks… not… crayon. Looks closer to the pre-rendered style from the original YI introduction, when it was going to have more of a Donkey Kong Country vibe to it.
Strange, and hoping this blurry video just doesn’t give it justice. They really should stick to the crayon look.
Also, kinda mildly interested in Mario Party. Just because it sounds like they’re trying to mix it up just a bit and make it better suited to the handheld than previous efforts. But, still likely not a buy from me.
